Ex-Mrs Florida Karyn Turk is released from federal prison after serving one-month sentence

Karyn Turk, former Mrs Florida pageant winner and conservative pundit, today walked out of federal prison in downtown Miami a free woman.

Turk spent a month behind bars for stealing Social Security checks from her elderly mother as she lay dying in a nursing home last year.

The 47-year-old radio commentator and ardent supporter of President Donald Trump was photographed on Tuesday leaving the lockup with a beaming smile on her face and being met outside by her husband, Palm Beach attorney Evan Turk.

Turk wore a white blouse, athletic tights and flip-flops

Turk was seen sporting a casual ensemble made up of a white blouse, cropped black Underarmour tights and flip-flops decorated with bows.

She wore her blond tresses loose and accessorized her looks with a pair of aviator sunglasses. Despite spending the past month in prison, Turk still had french manicure visible on her fingernails.

Carrying a yellow manila envelope in one hand, Turk rushed into her husband’s arms and the two shared a long embrace.

Just hours after regaining her freedom, Turk took to Facebook to weigh in on the coronavirus pandemic.

‘I finally get out of a maximum security prison and the whole world is on house arrest,’ she wrote in a status update on Tuesday afternoon, which included a sad emoji and a picture of an American flag.

As part of her sentence, the mom-of-four and aspiring reality television star will be required to serve five months on house arrest and 100 hours of community service.

Turk pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of social security fraud in September 2019, but claimed she took the money to pay for a private full-time aide for her bed-ridden mother who she believed was being neglected at her West Palm Beach nursing home.

The 83-year-old died last summer and Turk has since filed a negligence lawsuit against the facility.

Before heading to prison on March 2 in a patriotic red, white and blue getup, the right-wing conservative claimed that it was her political views that resulted in her incarceration.

She was crowned Mrs Florida in 2016 and was a regular at Trump’s Florida estate Mar-a-Lago, rubbing elbows with the president and his attorney Rudy Giuliani.

‘For a $17,000 misdemeanor that I admitted and pled guilty to I’m going to spend 30 days in downtown federal prison in Miami,’ Turk asked.

In an interview DailyMailTV in January, the ex-beauty and socialite wife of a prominent lamented that her sentence doesn’t reflect what really happened and she only stole the checks to pay for her mother’s private full time aide.

Turk pleaded guilty in September to stealing $17,320 worth of Social Security checks from her adoptive mother Ilse Schafer. Turk paid back $46,000 and spent the better part of the month of March in prison.

The checks should have been going to the Finnish-American Village, a nursing home in the West Palm Beach suburb of Lake Worth, where Turk’s mom, a retired New Jersey housewife, spent four years until her death June 10, 2019, at the age of 83.

In December, Finnish-America filed a lawsuit against Turk that claims she still owes them $220,000 for her mother’s care.

Turk hit out against the nursing home in a counter-lawsuit, claiming they neglected her mother and are responsible for her death and saying that’s why she refused to forward her mother’s Social Security checks to the facility.
