EY appoints its first female UK boss

Ernst & Young (EY) has appointed its first female boss in the UK. 

Anna Anthony will take over as UK & Ireland regional managing partner of the big four accountant on January 1 – putting her in charge of more than 20,000 staff.

That will make her one of the most senior female executives in Britain. 

Anthony, who has been a partner at EY for more than 16 years, said: ‘Leading a business of our size, scale and influence is a privilege and an honour.’ 

Hywel Ball, chairman of EY In the UK, added: ‘Anna is an exceptional leader, with a breadth and depth of experience that makes her an excellent choice as our next regional managing partner.’
