Facebook and Instagram are down with thousands of users across the world reporting problems with the social media platforms.
Users of both of the Facebook-owned services have reported a huge outage has left them unable to access their profiles.
People have taken to Twitter to post a string of hilarious responses to the outage, with one user asking ‘does this mean that i actually have to work now?’
This map shows the outage for Facebook worldwide. The majority of those affected are in the mainland Europe. Some people trying to access their Facebook profile has been greeted with the standard error message
Issues mostly appear to have affected mainland Europe and South East Asia, with the US and UK largely spared from the fault.
Facebook has yet to comment on the disruptions, which began around 10:30am GMT (5:30am ET) this morning.
Since then, more than 600 people have reported problems with photo-sharing platform Instagram to the outage tracking site DownDetector.
Just over 300 Facebook users have reported issues with the social media site.
Visitors to the Facebook site are met with a statement which says: ‘Sorry, something went wrong.
‘We’re working on it and we’ll get it fixed as soon as we can.’
Instagram users were left seeing a page reading: ‘Oops, an error occurred.’

It remains unclear whether the outage is the result of an internal issue at Facebook or whether it’s been caused by outside influences.
Users have taken to Twitter to vent their frustrations at the the outages.

Posting a picture of a Facebook error screen, user @profinblack wrote: ‘This just happened. People be panicking in 3… 2… 1… #FacebookDown’.

Twitter users are urging others not to panic and to remain calm as the social media sites are out for hundreds of people
