A fake cop who posed as an emergency worker to tell mothers their children were dead will be a free man in just three months.

South Australian Phillip Anton Zillner stalked women on social media before contacting them to say their children had been hit by a truck.

‘I’m Paul Simpson from Emergency Services, your daughter has been hit by a truck and I’m sorry she has passed away,’ he said in one of the calls, Nine News reported.

‘Your daughter has been hit by a truck out front of the school,’ he said in another call.

Zillner pleaded guilty in February to charges including three counts of recklessly causing injury, stalking and harass to cause offence.

Following his sentencing, the 37-year-old, who is autistic and suffers from Tourette’s Syndrome, told the court he is ‘sorry for what he’s done’.

He will be behind bars for another 90 days after already serving 14 months on remand.

More to come.
