Family recreate Pirates of the Caribbean ride at home while quarantined amid coronavirus pandemic

Yo ho yo ho a quarantined life for me! Family recreate Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean ride in their home while housebound amid coronavirus pandemic

  • Bored family from Utah decided to turn their home into a makeshift Disney ride
  • The Thornock family were already big fans of Disney and even had some props
  • A waterfall in the ride was recreated using a staircase and some blankets
  • Other scenes were almost identical recreations of the Disneyland ride
  • Coronavirus symptoms: what are they and should you see a doctor?

A family have recreated Disneyland’s famous Pirates of the Caribbean ride in their own home while quarantined against the coronavirus.

The Thornock family from Utah, managed to squeeze in many of the details from the beloved attraction and posted them in YouTube video online.

‘Since Disneyland is closed, my family decided to recreate our favorite ride!’ Brin Thornock wrote.

The improvised ride sees a couple of thrillseekers getting onboard a sled in the hallway of their home after being beckoned to buy a ticket.

All aboard! A bored family from Utah decided to turn their home into a makeshift Disney ride. The riders boarded a sled in the hallway of their home

The ride starts with the pair being pulled along the hallway, all set to the famous theme music, A Pirates Life For Me, that plays in the original rides at the Disney theme parks.

‘Please keep your hands and arms inside the boat at all times and no flash photography. Prepare to make sail!’ the would-be ride operator yells.

The journey sees them traveling through their home as they visit the landing, hallway, kitchen and the lounge areas which have been rearranged to mimic famous scenes in the real Disney ride.

The ride looked incredibly similar to the Disney ride (in parts!)

Everything from a pirate sitting in a rocking chair playing a mandolin, to a swashbuckling pirate taking a swig of beer while counting his money are also seen here on the makeshift home edition of the ride.

In the real park-based Pirates of the Caribbean ride there is a drop at one point where the boat passengers are sent down a steep waterfall.

Here, inside the Utah home, a staircase is used – but it still seems to elicit the same fearful screams of those riding as they crash into a pile of blankets.

In other carefully crafted scenes a skeleton is seen lying on the bed, while in another sketch filmed in the kitchen, the wife of a pirate is seen chasing her lover around with a broom.

The ride ends with Captain Jack Sparrow bidding the avid riders farewell.

‘We already had some pirate stuff from Halloween and such,’ Brin explained to Syfy Wire. ‘We are very familiar with the ride, so we picked out some of the key parts and brought it to life using items lying around the house.’

‘The hardest thing was trying not to break character and laugh,’ Brin said.

Earlier this month Disney closed both Disney World in Florida and Disneyland in California at least until the end of March as a result of the coronavirus outbreak.
