Fan is KICKED OUT of Portugal’s quarter-final loss against Morocco after throwing water at Cristiano Ronaldo… after the striker had been benched for the second successive match

A fan was thrown out of Portugal’s quarter-final clash with Morocco after chucking water at Cristiano Ronaldo.

Ronaldo was named among the substitutes for the second consecutive match after being dropped for Goncalo Ramos against Switzerland, who came in and netted a hat-trick.

As Ronaldo walked along the touchline by the dugout, a fan leaned across and threw water out of a bottle at the forward.

The 37-year-old did not appear to do anything to provoke the attack, and the supporter was quickly confronted by a number of his fellow fans.

Security then came across to speak to the man before escorting him out of the stadium.

Ronaldo was eventually brought off the bench in the early stages of the second half, but was unable to rescue his team as they slipped to a 1-0 defeat thanks to Youssef En-Nesyri’s first-half header.

This was despite Morocco going down to 10 men late on after Walid Cheddira was shown two yellow cards in quick succession.

It caps off a miserable tournament for Ronaldo who lost his place in the side and scored just once in five appearances, an opening game penalty against Ghana.

As the final whistle blew, Ronaldo walked straight down the tunnel in floods of tears as a member of Portugal’s staff tried to comfort him.

Ronaldo will be 41 when the next World Cup comes around in the summer of 2026, meaning that his final opportunity to win football’s biggest international tournament looks to have passed him by.
