Fans wait in line to get seats at $50m Depp/Heard trial as fans leave bad reviews for psychiatrist

Devoted fans have lined up outside a Virginia courthouse for some of their last chances to sit in on Johnny Depp and Amber Heard’s $50 million defamation trial as the legal drama enters its final days.

Most of the fans could be seen flaunting their support of the 58-year-old Pirates of the Caribbean star, holding up signs calling for ‘Justice for Johnny.’

All of them are hoping to get their hands on a wristband, which grant them entry into the courtroom spectacle that has blown up social media, TMZ reports.

Depp is suing Heard, his 35-year-old ex-wife, for writing a 2018 op-ed about being a survivor of domestic abuse.

The opinion piece never mentioned Depp by name, but Depp’s lawyers claim it was clear that Heard was referencing the Hollywood leading man.  Additionally, they claim that the resulting negative publicity cost Depp roles in upcoming films and projects.

Heard claims Depp is smearing her by accusing her of lying in the article and is countersuing for $100 million.

Throughout the six-week long trial, Heard’s attorneys have tried to paint Depp as an abuser and called in a psychiatrist on Monday to testify about his behavior.

But online, many of Depp’s supporters have vilified Heard, with some even taking to WebMD and Google Reviews to slam the psychiatrist, who claimed Depp has the ‘behaviors of someone’ who is abusive despite never examining the actor himself.

Dr. David Spiegel, a Virginia-based psychiatrist, testified on Monday that Depp displayed ‘behaviors of someone’ who is abusive – despite later admitting that he did not actually interview the movie star

In court on Monday, Dr. David Spiegel, a Virginia-based psychiatrist, said that Depp is a narcissist whose behavior is consistent with someone that has ‘both substance abuse disorder as well as behaviors of someone who is a perpetrator of intimate partner violence.’

He listed the drugs that Depp has abused, including alcohol, amphetamines, marijuana, cocaine, LSD, ecstasy and opiates – claiming that such drug use caused a concerning level of damage to Depp’s memory, as evidenced by his former therapist asking him to remember three words and repeat them five minutes later.

Spiegel also testified that evidence like a video of Depp smashing up his kitchen, as well as the firing and rehiring of his personal doctor, showed he had  a ‘significant trouble with delaying gratification.’

‘One way to make that ‘significantly worse is with substances’, Dr. Spiegel said.

He went on to claim that Depp’s use of vulgar language in texts was ‘disturbing,’ saying: ‘I have no problem with people being angry but the expressing of it and continual ranting was very uncomfortable to read’.

Spiegel claimed that such prescription drug use could result in unexpected effects.

‘You start getting irritable, you start getting agitated, suspicious, jealous, potentially disinhibited, psychotic,’ he said, noting: ‘We’re talking about not your average everyday use of these substances, we’re talking about chronic use together

‘You’re playing with fire when you’re talking about substances and intimate partner violence.’

Adding illegal substances to a situation where domestic violence was an issue, Spiegel explained, meant Depp’s brain could no longer ‘prevent’ him from physically assaulting Heard even though such behavior was ‘wrong’.

He then reeled of the characteristics of narcissists and addressed whether they applied to Depp, telling jurors: ‘Narcissism patients have poor control, rapid mood shifts, undue sense of admiration, worship power, they worship control.

‘They have a lack of empathy and people are generally kept around as long as they are useful to them, a large sense of entitlement. Need for praise, and intimate partner violence’.

According to Dr. Spiegel, being envious and have a ‘fragile self esteem’ were part of being a narcissistic.

Asked if Depp was a narcissistic, he said: ‘I do think that the fact he thought that Amber owed him and only wanted to be together with him because of his fame is an example of that. I think the jealousy is an example of that.

‘This whole trial in terms of a narcissistic insult is what’s going on.’

But during cross-examination, he admitted that his testimony was based on Depp’s appearances – apparently including in the Pirates of the Caribbean movies, the evidence presented in court and other people’s testimony.

He said he had asked to speak with Depp twice, but was denied.

In the aftermath, his page on the medical website WebMD was inundated with one-star reviews.

Many called him ‘unprofessional,’ with some claiming he may be taking the medicine he prescribes to his patients.

Others said his psychiatric license should be revoked, with one person commenting: ‘The medical board and ethics committee needs to review the doctors’ cases. You should never render medical [advice] if you have not personally examined and interviewed the patient.’

And another wrote that they ‘can’t believe he watched a movie to diagnose someone.

‘Just think how many innocent people have been found guilty due to his fake testimonies.’

A third user also commented that Spiegel ‘comes across as a Wish.com version of Doc Brown from Back to the Future.

‘He needs an evaluation,’ the user wrote. ‘And then a termination.’

Meanwhile, the one-star reviews that were leveraged against the doctor on Google Reviews seem to have been scrubbed from the website.

But not before NBC News reporter Kat Tenbarge took screengrabs of them showing one person claiming Spiegel ‘has simply been unprofessional, unpleasant to work with’ and has misdiagnosed ‘multiple people with the slightest hint of regret and acts like he knows everything.

‘He should be avoided at all costs.’

The trial is now set to conclude on Friday, with British supermodel Kate Moss, 48, set to testify virtually on Wednesday about her relationship with Depp in the 1990s.

She was not originally set to testify as her experience with Depp was deemed irrelevant to the alleged abuse allegations he now faces.

But earlier this month, Heard had brought up the super model in her testimony, saying she felt connected to Moss due to a rumor that Depp pushed her down the stairs when they were dating back in the 1990s.

By doing so, experts say, Heard inadvertently allowed Depp’s lawyers to call Moss as a witness to discuss the rumor, which sources say is not true, noting that Moss continues to support Depp – with whom she was in a relationship with from 1994 to 1997.

A source familiar with the case has since told the New York Post Moss will talk about an incident when she ‘was walking down some stairs in Jamaica’.

‘She was wearing flip flips and she slipped on the last two stairs. Johnny caught her and tended to her.’

‘Johnny picked up Kate and carried her – this was hardly Amber’s scary interpretation of events,’ the source said, adding that Depp’s legal team have been speaking to Moss in the last week.

‘Kate has nothing to gain in giving testimony, but she feels strongly about defending her friend,’ the source added.
