A new fashion exhibit in New York City asks visitors to think about what they would do if they could alter their body as often as their clothes.
A. Human was created by Simon Huck, who is known to be close friends with celebrities like Kim Kardashian, Chrissy Teigen and Kourtney Kardashian.
The goal of the exhibit is to explore a futuristic society where expressing yourself is defined by how you change areas of the body.
Futuristic: A fashion exhibit in New York City entitled A Human forces the viewers to think about body modifications in a different way
Trippy: Simon Huck, friend to the Kardashian clan, created the designs ahead of New York Fashion Week
Incredible: He wanted people to think about how the world could be if anyone could modify their body as quickly as changing clothes
To showcase the futuristic viewpoint, the exhibit stays away from current body modifications like fillers.
‘We didn’t want to root any of our modifications on the idea of existing insecurities or discomforts,’ Simon told Vogue.
‘A. Human is about the freedom to explore this world and live in this world in any way you choose.’
During the interactive exhibit, people can choose to try on different pieces that alter the way their body looks, including a human corset made to match the skin.
Another modification viewers will see when attending the exhibit are conch shells that have been made into heeled human feet.
Although these modifications can be viewed as creepy to some, Simon said he wanted to design these implants with a positive spin.
‘I didn’t want to create a utopian world, but I definitely wanted to create a world that was optimistic or, at the bare minimum, neutral,’ he said.
‘We wanted to use the future of fashion and the future of self-expression as a way to look at the future.’
Visitors will walk through the exhibit to view the body modifications before experiencing ‘subversive playground’ with sights, sounds and visuals.
Out of this world: Kim Kardashian look like an alien as she models skin-growth like jewelry
Me too! Kim wasn’t alone, with pal Chrissy Teigen rocking a feathered breastplate
Fabulous: Queer Eye’s Tan France modeled a Tudor-inspired body modification for his followers on Monday just ahead of the exhibits launch
Spiked: Model Andreja Pejic also modeled one of the designs from Simon’s exhibition
For the exhibit, Simon recruited Kim, 37, to wear a skin-toned necklace that looked like an alien growth around her neck.
The KKW Beauty mogul flaunted the unusual design on her Instagram Story on Monday ahead of the exhibits launch on September 5.
‘My necklace glows like a heartbeat. It moves to the rhythm of my heart beat,’ whispered Kim, pouting into the camera. ‘Thank you A Human.’
Chrissy, 32, also unveiled her own body modification on Monday where she showed viewers on Instagram a breastplate that mirrored wings.
The center of the nude-colored design started at Chrissy’s sternum and moved up towards her shoulders.
But the two stars were not the only ones who participated in the body implants ahead of the exhibit launch.
Queer Eye’s Tan France modeled ‘The Tudor’ for his followers where he wore a design around his neck that was inspired by collars from the 16th century.
‘I was lucky enough to get an exclusive glimpse of A. Human’s new collection, and it looks like I’m taking something home,’ Tan wrote on Instagram Monday.
Most of the design matched his skin tone besides one area of clear ‘crystals’ that protruded out of the collar.
The month-long interactive exhibit costs $40 to view and will open next week at 48 Mercer Street in Soho just in time for New York Fashion Week.
