‘Fashion mom’ reveals the three clothing trends that are DONE in 2023

A fashion expert has revealed the three style trends that are done in 2023.

Meytal Algranti, who has more than one million followers as @stylehard on TikTok, has listed the trends she thinks aren’t going to carry over from 2022 into this new year.

Dubbed TikTok’s ‘Fashion Mom’, Algranti, from Toronto, Canada, says in a recent video the first clothing item that will be ‘over’ is the ‘aggressive mom jean.’

‘Today we’re talking about trends that are over and you’re going to be mad. Always you should do and wear whatever you want,’ she begins the video.

She then quips: ‘Just remember who’s in charge, I am TikTok Fashion Mom. You will shut the hell up when you’re talking to me.’

Algranti, who studied Fashion Coordination and Styling at the Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson University), according to Influencive, goes on to explain her first choice on her list.

‘Let’s zero in on number one: the aggressive mom jeans, especially with the elastic waist band,’ she says.

‘Now I know a lot of you guys are mad already, but here’s the thing, I don’t know why but it gives me felon on the run.’

Algranti then introduces her ‘number two’ item.

‘The aggressive square nail – well-documented to carry E.coli, highly flammable and also extremely f***ing ugly,’ she says.

The next item on the influencer’s out list is the open-toed boot.

‘Look I know you were the s*** in 2013 and by the way I do not promote getting rid of your items, at all. But I do promote repurposing these,’ she says.

‘You know these could be a good gardening shoe, you got the heel to really get in that soil, breathable toe area, right?’ Algranti jokes.

In conclusion, the mom urges people to take her advice ‘with a grain of salt.’

‘The truth of the matter is, I don’t make the rules. I mean I do, but…,’ Algranti quips.

She's also not a fan of the 'aggressive' square nail

The fashion expert also made a TikTok about the differences of a trend, classic and a fad when it came to 2023 handbags.

She declares the Gucci Jackie, and the Prada Cleo and Re-Edition as trends.

‘You might be thinking [the Jackie] is a classic, this has been done before, this bag has history,’ Algranti says.

‘Yes all of that is true, but this bag, along with the other bags mentioned, has gone through waves of popularity and waves of unpopularity, making it very much part of the trend cycle.

‘That doesn’t mean it’s a bad investment or doesn’t hold value.’

Meanwhile Algranti says a classic ‘remains relevant in fashion whether it’s super popular or not.’

‘A great example of this bag is the Bottega Intrecciato… this is a great classic because even though it’s not widely popular, it is always relevant in fashion,’ she says.

‘Bottega always has a version of this, even the Jodie bag… not the mini Jodie, and also this version still exists with Bottega today. It’s always there.’

The mom says the Balenciaga Le Cagole XS is a fad.

‘This is not nor was it ever going to stand the test of time,’ she says.

In another video, Algranti broke down the ‘hot fashion trends coming up for 2023.’

‘Sheer in various different ways,’ the mom says, kicking off her list.

‘Full sheer outfits, dresses, coordinating sets, sheer details and little accents, and, of course, sheer done in a casual way, which we’ve seen many times before, still going strong.’

Another trend Algranti pointed to was sequins, particularly silver

The next hot trend is baggy and oversized jeans.

‘We love to see these trends carrying over from season to season instead of these turbo trends that we see happening and dying,’ Algranti says.

Next are maxi skirts, but she reassures people mini-skirts are ‘still a thing.’

Sequins are also back in all kinds of ways, ‘but especially silver.’

‘Last for today we have oversized leather jackets reminiscent to styles in the ’80s,’ Algranti says.
