A father whose car crashed into a pub 250 miles away from his home appeared in court this morning charged with the attempted murder of two young girls and two baby boys.
Owen Peter Scott was charged yesterday and remanded into custody after his car smashed into a pub while carrying two girls aged eight and seven-years-old and two baby boys, aged 21 and nine-months, in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
He is yet to enter a plea after appearing before Sheffield Magistrates’ Court.

Mr Scott, 29, from Fawley, Hampshire has been charged with four counts of attempted murder in relation to injuries sustained by the four children and will face Sheffield Magistrates’ Court today.
He is thought to be the father of at least two of the children.
The defendant will remain in custody until the pre trial preparation hearing which will take place on Sep 22 at Sheffield Crown Court

Two girls aged eight and seven years old and two boys aged 21 and nine months old have been taken to hospital where they remain in a serious condition.
The man, who drove a grey Dacia Logan and is believed to be from Hampshire, is also in hospital but in a stable condition.
South Yorkshire police say that the children’s injuries are not all thought to be consistent with the crash.
Hampshire Police issued a statement saying they received a report that a man in his 20s and four young children were missing from Hythe, Hampshire.
The force added: ‘The man and the children were located after being involved in a single vehicle collision in Barnsley, South Yorkshire in the early hours of Wednesday 23 August.
‘The collision is being investigated by South Yorkshire police with assistance from Hampshire Constabulary.’
Hours before the crash, Sheryl Rogers, thought to be the mother of the four children, posted on Facebook asking for the whereabouts of a man called Owen Scott.
It is believed that Mr Scott is the father of at least two of the children.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: ‘At around 12.25am on Wednesday 23 August, a grey Dacia Logan containing a 29-year-old man, two girls aged eight and seven-years-old and two baby boys, aged 21 and nine-months old, was travelling along the A629, Copster Lane, from the direction of Thurgoland towards Hoylandswaine.
‘The car is believed to have left the road as it approached the junction of Bower Hill and Coates Lane and was in collision with the front wall of a pub.
‘An investigation is now underway to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.
‘All four children remain in hospital at this time in serious conditions.’
