Father, 44, reveals terrifying moment he is thrown into the middle of a busy highway

A father has revealed the terrifying moment a woman decided to use her van as a weapon – reversing into him at speed and knocking him into the middle of a busy highway.

Adam Richards lay in shock in the middle of the Pacific Highway at Killara, Sydney,  at about 7pm on Tuesday –  after what he described as a ‘disagreement over a small accident’ turned violent.

Mr Richards, 44, said the road rage began after he ‘high beamed’ the woman in the van when she nearly merged on top of him.

Adam Richards took this photo of a woman during a road rage incident – and claims she got into her car and reversed into him after it was taken

‘She started slamming on her brakes, like she was trying to cause an accident,’ Mr Richards said.

‘So I decided she was driving too erratically for my liking and tried to pass her further up the road.

‘This is where she side-swiped me. I stopped my car and she stopped hers and got out trying to tell me I was in the wrong.

‘When I asked for her details she started swearing ”You f***ing c*** I am going to stab you.’

Mr Richards said he just wanted the woman’s details so he could pass them on to the insurance company – but every time he asked, she started to swear.

He then took a photo of the woman after he began to feel threatened by her behaviour.

That is when she  got back into her car.

‘I thought she was finally grabbing her licence details for me so I walked over to the door and saw her keys in the ignition.

‘I told her she couldn’t leave because we needed to sort out the details.

‘That’s when she flung the door open – at this point I thought she was going to stab me because she had threatened to do it.

‘But instead she reversed the car at speed – slamming into me and my car before driving away.

Mr Richards has been left with a dislocated knee, bumps and grazes following the incident

‘She flung her door wide open and reversed at speed, hitting me and knocking me into the middle of the road,’ Mr Richards said.

‘I was shocked. I didn’t expect her to be using her door as a weapon. She smashed into my car and then drove away.’

The incident left Mr Richards in hospital, nursing ‘bumps and grazes as well as a dislocated knee’.

‘When she hit me I felt my knee pop out. I was lying on the middle of the Pacific Highway and manage to crawl over to the gutter.

‘I was still in shock and just lay there in front of my car.’

Mr Richards is telling his story in the hope witnesses to the accident will come forward.

The matter has been reported to police, who are investigating.

He also took a picture of the woman's van and is hoping anyone who saw the road rage comes forward
