Father demands changing tables in men’s bathrooms after he’s forced to change his child on floor

A father has taken to the internet to vent his frustration at the lack of changing tables for fathers in men’s rooms.

Chris Mau, 33, posted to the Love what Matters website detailing the time he had no choice but to lay his baby on a disgusting toilet floor to change her because there were no changing tables.

‘I’m getting pretty sick of having to change my daughter on a disgusting floor because the only changing table in the place is located in the women’s bathroom,’ he wrote.

‘It’s crazy to imagine, I know, but there are guys who take care of their kids too.’

He said in the age of equality between genders it wasn’t too much to ask to have changing tables in the men’s room.

Mr Mau, his wife and their children had stopped at a restaurant with a kids play area, leading him to assume they would have facilities in place for parents to change nappies, whether in a parents’ room or otherwise.

To his dismay, when he took his baby daughter to change her he found there was no changing table available in the me’s room, forcing him to lay a towel down on the toilet floor.

‘I was immediately frustrated with the ignorance of the facility and with Kali crying I had to make the hard choice between either making her wait until we found a facility that had a changing station,’ he wrote.

‘The condition of the bathroom was less than sanitary, but the crying of my children eats at the very fiber of my being and I had to help her.’

As he changed his daughter in the less-than-ideal location he wrote that he couldn’t help but think people honestly didn’t think fathers ever had to change their babies.

‘I told my fiancee who was infuriated by the restaurant’s ignorance to a major part of having children, and made a quick but clear complaint on our way out,’ he said.
