A desperate search is underway for a baby boy who went missing from Melbourne after he was last seen with his mother.

Raph Swinkels, who is just four months old, was last seen with his mother, Brittany Lee, in Seaford in Melbourne’s south-east about 6pm Monday. 

Victoria police hold grave fears for the infant’s safety and are now appealing for public assistance in locating him.

Investigators have released an image of Ms Lee in the hopes that someone may recognise her and come forward with information.

Police are urging anyone who may have any information on Raph and his mother’s whereabouts to come forward.

The pair were last seen in a grey 2009 Holden Captiva wagon and were believed to be driving towards Ballarat.
