Search teams looking for a missing jogger who had not been seen since he set off for a run on Wednesday have found a body. 

A major operation was launched after David Hill didn’t return to his home in Lydd, Kent, after heading out for a jog. 

The 52-year-old was last known to have been in the Dennes Lane area at around 2.10pm, and was said to have previously completed runs across country towards Old Romney. 

Police confirmed today a body was found in the Swamp Road area just before 9am.

While formal identification has not yet taken place, Mr Hill’s family have been told of the discovery. 

The death is not being treated as suspicious. 

More than 60 emergency personnel and the Coastguard Search and Rescue helicopter worked through the night to hunt for Mr Hill, who was described as being six feet tall, of stocky build, with receding grey hair. 

Specialist search dogs trained to seek out blood and human scent were also used on the ground in freezing temperatures overnight.

Mr Hill was last seen wearing a red Adidas coat and black Adidas tracksuit bottoms.

A police spokesman said: ‘Kent Police attended the Swamp Road area of Lydd shortly before 9am today, where the body of a man was located. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

‘Formal identification has not yet taken place, however, the family of a 52-year-old man who was reported missing on Wednesday 30 December have been informed.

‘The death is not being treated as suspicious and a report is being prepared for the coroner.’
