Kate Middleton may have dropped many hints about feeling broody for having a fourth baby – but yesterday it was William who was snapped fawning over babies during his royal walkabout at Sandringham.
The new Prince and Princess of Wales , both 40, appeared deep in thought yesterday as they took part in a walkabout at the Norfolk estate.
The royal couple were seen slowly looking down at a sea of floral tributes in Sandringham, while the Prince pointed down at individual cards and objects.
And when they went on to speak to royal fans in the crowd, it appeared to be the number of babies in the crowd who caught both William and Kate’s attention.
The Prince of Wales was seen cooing over one young baby, and putting a hand out onto the little boy to stroke his shoulder.

William, who is himself a father of three, playfully chatted to the little baby with a smile on his face.
During the chat, Prince William joked that Paddington has ‘knocked the Corgi off the top spot’ and that the Queen’s beloved pets ‘won’t take that very well’.
Meanwhile Kate, who is known for her love of children and her natural motherly way with little ones, also appeared drawn to a number of young babies in the crowd.
After spotting the moments online, royal fans quickly went wild for the interactions, with one writing: ‘Feeling broody, Wills? Don’t let Kate catch you!’

It’s far from the first time the couple have been seen cooing over babies during the period of mourning this week.
The Prince and Princess of Wales were both seen chatting with a young mother during their walkabout in Windsor last Saturday.
Meanwhile mother-of-three Kate, who has recently inherited the title Princess of Wales, is a natural with children and is often seen making a fuss of little ones while she’s out and about at public appearances.
In June this year she was spotted asking a royal fan, Marianne Provoost, if she could hold her baby during an outing to Newmarket Racecourse, Cambridge.
A video of the sweet moment showed the Princess smiling at and chatting with the baby, who she asked if she could hold, telling her mother: ‘I love babies.’

Meanwhile, Prince William was seen loitering nearby, watching his wife as she cuddled the tot, and Kate was certainly in no hurry to go when he urged her to move on.
As Kate handed four-month-old with Ms Provoost telling the duchess: ‘Enjoy your day and enjoy your children.’
The video clips shows Prince William appear to gently tap his wife on the arm, saying: ‘It’s time to go’.
However, she took her time saying goodbye to Marianne, before handing the child back.
It was not surprising given the Duchess’ recent comments about potentially having a fourth child.
During her visit to Copenhagen’s Children’s Museum earlier this year, Kate admitted she felt ‘broody’ after meeting with two eight-month-old baby boys and their parents.
She joked that husband Prince William worries about her working with under-one-year-olds because she returns home wanting ‘another one’.
During the walkabout yesterday, Kate revealed Prince George ‘understands the loss’ of his great-grandmother – while his younger siblings Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis ‘less so’.
Elsewhere, the royal spoke to one wellwisher about how her children have been coping since the loss of their grandmother last week at Balmoral.
Speaking to BBC’s Jo Black today, the unnamed wellwisher, who was amongst the crowd standing outside the estate today, said: ‘My daughter asked her how the children were doing, and Kate thanked her and said yes, they were doing well and they were being looked after at school, so that was a nice exchange.’
