The 31-year-old man who allegedly spray painted lewd graffiti at the memorial for Eurydice Dixon has been named as fellow comedian Andrew Nolch.

Mr Nolch was arrested by police last week and charged with criminal damage, offensive behaviour and making offensive graffiti.

He is known to friends of Ms Dixon, who herself was an aspiring comedian, The Age reported.

On social media following Ms Dixon’s death, Mr Nolch had written: ‘The mainstream media is running a brainwashing program which is designed to make everyone think that males are bad’.

He is scheduled to appear in Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on August 10 after being granted bail.

Mr Nolch, who had a program on Channel 31 which no longer airs called The Kink, was charged just hours before a vigil for Ms Dixon, 22.

Police patrolling Princes Park in the inner Melbourne suburb of Carlton North discovered the vandalism at 3.50am on June 18.

Fire crews removed the 25-metre offensive markings next to the floral memorial after they were found.

Council workers then covered up the remnants of the disgraceful graffiti with plastic sheets, as organisers of the vigil expressed their disgust.
