A taxi driver has allegedly been stabbed in the head by a female passenger in a terrifying robbery attempt.

Police charged a woman, 24, after the allegedly stabbing in Ashfield, in Sydney’s inner west, on Sunday night.

The woman was taken to Burwood Police Station and charged with assault with intent to rob whilst armed with an offensive weapon.

The 50-year-old driver was treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in a stable condition. 

Police said the incident occurred near Ashfield Police Station, where the driver reported the alleged assault.

The woman was refused bail and will appear at Burwood Local Court on Monday.
