A female police officer allegedly locked an 11-year-old boy in a cell and stripsearched him, even though he wasn’t suspected of doing anything wrong

The incident was under investigation by Tasmania Police’s professional standards unit earlier this year.

The officer allegedly thought the 11-year-old should ‘experience what it would be like to be arrested’, The Mercury reported.

The boy and another family member were allegedly taken to a remand centre by the officer, where staff were told the pair were under arrest.

They were released 20 minutes later when a sergeant realised something was amiss.
