A prison guard at Britain’s biggest men’s prison has appeared in court today accused of an ‘inappropriate’ relationship with an inmate.

Ayshea Gunn, 27, from Pant Glas, Johnstown, Wrexham, was accused of misconduct between July 31, 2018, and November 20 last year while a prison officer at HMP Berwyn, Wrexham.

She entered no formal plea at North-East Wales Magistrates’ Court in Mold.

She was accused of having a four-month ‘relationship’ with an inmate, according to North Wales Live. 

She was given unconditional bail and will appear at Mold Crown Court on December 23.

Prosecutor Robert Blakemore said the prisoner Khuram Razaq, 29, would appear on a video link before magistrates at Wrexham on Wednesday.

The defendant, wearing black trousers, a black shirt and black jacket, spoke only to confirm her name, date of birth and her address during the five-minute hearing.
