Fernando Llorente has admitted he would ‘love to go back to La Liga’ as the Spanish striker eyes a move away from Tottenham to gain more first team football.

Llorente left Athletic Bilbao for Juventus in 2013. He returned for a spell at Sevilla in 2015 but has since been playing in England for Swansea and now Spurs.

After only starting 11 matches for Mauricio Pochettino’s side since joining in 2017, Llorente is firmly behind Harry Kane in the pecking order and he has grown frustrated at a lack of opportunities.

He also hoped that his impressive display against the Dutch side will boost his chances of more regular game time.

‘I came on and things went well, so I’m happy to have helped the team,’ he added.

‘I hope I continue to have opportunities, it’s important for me because it gives me the confidence to keep working, it’s not easy when you do not play because mentally you have to be very strong to continue training hard.’
