‘Last season’s Final was very painful for me. I want revenge and I want Napoli to show that they’re on par with a very good team like Liverpool,’ he said.

‘Of course [we can reach the Final], even if it’ll be difficult. We’re thinking game by game: after Liverpool we’ll have to face two other teams.

‘It’s never easy and if you waste a game, the group becomes complicated.’

He continued: ‘We need to have a perfect match, play a great game and keep errors to a minimum.

‘They’re very strong, especially when they win the ball back, because they have a lot of quality.

‘If you make a mistake against teams as strong as Liverpool, they make you pay.’

And the veteran has been enamored by the welcome he’s received in Naples.

‘The warmth of the fans here is crazy. They make you feel it as soon as you arrive: it’s wonderful. Now I can’t wait to score goals so I can dedicate them to the fans.

‘I’d always like to help the team. It would be important, improving game after game because I still lots to improve on.’
