An all-in brawl at a suburban rugby game has prompted a police investigation, following a heated match that saw the two teams trading blows on the field.
The violent rugby league clash between the Warilla Gorillas and Shellharbour Stingrays took place at Lake Illawarra’s Cec Glenholmes Oval, in Sydney’s south, on Sunday afternoon.
Video footage from the match shows one player viciously throwing punches at another after being tackled, causing teammates from both sides to rush in and break up the fracas.

Both players were sent off, only to become embroiled in the off-field scuffle that erupted after the full-time siren, police were told.
This second fight, also captured on film, appeared to involve at least four grown males lashing out at each other before a crowd of more than a dozen players, officials and bystanders ran in to diffuse the situation.
A 27-year-old man involved in the tussle suffered a minor laceration on his face, but reportedly did not require medical treatment.

Officers from Lake Illawarra Police District attended the scene of the brawl.
They reportedly spoke with a number of people and have since launched an investigation into the incident.
