Fibre optic networks are ‘sabotaged’ across France – days after rail network arsonists sparked travel chaos on opening day of the Olympics

Fibre optic networks have been ‘sabotaged’ in several parts of France, according to police.

It comes just days after coordinated arson attacks paralysed high-speed train services hours before the Olympics opening ceremony, disrupting travel for hundreds of thousands of people.

The latest alleged acts of vandalism have hit six areas of France but not affected Paris, where the games are largely being hosted, police said on Monday.

The outage affected landlines rather than mobile lines overnight, according to information obtained by French daily paper Le Parisien.
