FIFA Club World Cup’s future in doubt with tournament to clash with Euros and the Copa America after both were pushed back until the summer of 2021

The FIFA Club World Cup’s future is now in doubt after the European Championships and the Copa America were pushed back to the summer of 2021.
FIFA’s competition was meant to be played in a new, expanded format between mid-June and the start of July of next summer, with 24 teams from six confederations taking part.
And with both the Euros and Copa America being pushed back, there will now be doubts over its viability.

UEFA officially announced on Tuesday afternoon that Euro 2020 would be pushed back a year.
The Copa America is also set to be played in the same time frame rather than at the end of the current season.
That means it is unlikely that the Club World Cup — which was meant to be hosted in China — can be at the same time of the year. It might mean the tournament has to be postponed.
The coronavirus crisis has decimated the global sporting calendar, including domestic, European and international action, and UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin held a series of conference calls on Tuesday to help chart a course for the future of football.
