Finance boss of US retailer Bed, Bath & Beyond falls to his death from New York skyscraper

The finance boss of US retailer Bed, Bath & Beyond has fallen to his death from a New York skyscraper.

Gustavo Arnal, 52, fell from the 18th floor of the ‘Jenga’ tower in Tribeca in lower Manhattan, police said.

Tragedy: Gustavo Arnal’s death came just days after the company announced it was closing 150 stores and would cut jobs in a bid to turn around the loss-making business

Arnal’s death on Friday came just days after the company announced it was closing 150 stores and would cut jobs in a bid to turn around the loss-making business.

MailOnline reported that Arnal was being sued for artificially inflating the company’s stock price to sell off his shares at a higher value.

The lawsuit claims shareholders lost nearly £1billion when Arnal and a majority investor engaged in a ‘pump and dump’ scheme.

The document was filed just one week before Arnal’s death.
