Fines for parking across your own driveway increase in NSW

New offences:

■ Stop in intersection (school zone) – $439 and 2 points

■ Stop within 20m of intersection (traffic lights) (school zone) – $439 and 2 points

■ Stop near bicycle crossing lights (school zone) – $439 and 2 points

■ Obstruct access to ramp/path/passageway (school zone) – $330 and 2 points

■ Not parallel park in direction of travel (school zone) – $330 and 2 points

■ Parallel park close to dividing line/strip (school zone) – $330 and 2 points

Offences which have seen the number of demerit points increase from 1 to 2:

■ Stop on/near children’s crossing

■ Stop on/near pedestrian crossing

■ Stop on/near marked foot crossing

■ Stop near bicycle crossing lights (from 0 to 2 points)

Offences that have increased from $257 to $330 and carry two points include:

■ Stop in intersection

■ Stop within 20m of intersection (traffic lights)

■ Stop within 10m of intersection (no traffic lights)

Offences that have increased from $110 to $257:

■ Stop on path/strip in built-up area

■ Obstruct access to ramp/path/passageway

■ Stop on/across driveway/other access to/from land

■ Insert prohibited matter in parking meter

■ Damage parking meter

■ Interfere with parking meter

■ Not parallel park in direction of travel (from $183 to $257)

■ Deface/affix anything to parking meter (from $110 to $183)

■ Deface/affix anything to ticket machine (from $110 to $183)

■ Deface/affix matter to loading zone ticket machine (from $110 to $183)
