Fire crews tackle huge blaze at bakery chain factory as towering plume of smoke is visible from miles away

Fire crews are battling a huge blaze at a bakery chain factory, with the towering plume of smoke seen for miles around.
The blaze at the Village Bakery Factory, on the Wrexham Industrial Estate, in north Wales, it thought to have started just before 9am, as reported by Wrexham.com
Alisha Anwar tweeted: ‘Right over my house. On the Wrexham Industrial Estate. That’s a lot of smoke’.
Social media users have been tweeting about the huge plumes of smoke that can be seen for miles around.

And Han said: ‘Can see the smoke from village bakers which is on fire on the industrial estate Wrexham.’
And another social media users said: ‘Omg. I hope everyone got out!’
A number of fire engines are currently at the scene tackling the fire.
The North Wales Fire and Rescue Team have been contacted for further comment.
A spokesman for North Wales Police confirmed they are also at the scene and have closed Coed Abed Road, while the fire service deal with the blaze. They are advising people to avoid the area.
Jordan Hollingsworth, who works at a vehicle leasing firm across the road from the bakery, told BBC News: ‘It was a small bit of smoke at 8:45/8:50 [but] within about five to 10 minutes there was thick black smoke coming over the top.
‘The flames are still strong to the side and can see through a big blue shutter where the flames are huge as well.’
A spokesman for the police said a nearby road has been closed off and people should avoid the area
It is not clear at this stage what started the blaze and no injuries have been reported.
The award-winning bakery was set up in 1934, and provides a number of baked goods throughout north Wales.
It was nominated as one of the Wales fastest growing companies in 2013.
They have won multiple awards for their baking produce, most recently in 2018 for Britain’s Best Loaf for a Gluten Free Loaf at the Baking Industry Awards.
