First Dates Australia viewers were left stunned after one participant decided to wrestle a staff member in front of his horrified date on Thursday night’s episode.

Children’s gymnastics coach and professional wrestler Paris, 25, showed off his fighting skills by jokingly brawling with the show’s handsome maître d’ Giacomo after his date Victoria, 26, asked him to demonstrate his ‘signature move’.

The animated performance didn’t sit too well with his unimpressed date – and even fans of the show couldn’t quite believe what they were watching.

‘#FirstDatesAU If wrestler gets seriously injured, he can change his stage name to ‘Plaster Of Paris’,’ one person Tweeted.

‘Why is she telling him to do that! #FirstDatesAU,’ a second viewer questioned.

Another wrote: ‘No breaking chairs and no jumping on the bar. Good rule for life, really. #FirstDatesAU.’

‘Ariana and the wrestler aren’t going anywhere,’ another fan added, after the show’s narrator compared her good looks to singer Ariana Grande.

During their dinner date, Victoria asked Paris to demonstrate his ‘signature move’ after learning he was a professional wrestler.

‘I was wondering if he can demonstrate the move. Do you think you can?’ she asked.

After a lengthy wrestle in front of the bar with Giacomo – who was more than willing to participate  – Victoria looked mortified as she watched her potential suitor try to place the hunky staff member in a headlock.

The waitress then asked Victoria: ‘Surely that’s won you over.’

‘I just feel awkward. I’m just like, what am I gonna say now? Oh, he’s good. Oh, my gosh,’ she responded.

Following her disgruntled look, one fan Tweeted shortly after the fake brawl: ‘Wasn’t it Victoria’s idea to have him wrestle?’

The date ended with Victoria telling producers she didn’t see her relationship with Paris going any further than a friendship.

Channel 10 snatched romance reality show First Dates from Channel Seven last year.

It lost traction throughout its four-year run, with the 2020 season averaging just 424,000 metro viewers – well below prime-time benchmarks.

Seven still airs regular repeats of First Dates on its multichannels and 7plus.
