Celebrity fitness coach Ben Putland shares his day on a plate and the secrets behind his lean physique

He’s the celebrity trainer who has transformed the bodies of Nathaniel Buzolic, Joel Creasey, Richard Reid and Megan Blake Irwin.

And now fitness coach Ben Putland has shared the exact daily breakdown of his meals and why he advises his celebrity clients to stick to the same diet.

Speaking to Daily Mail Australia, Ben, 25, said: ‘Keeping track of your macros and diet can help you make smart and healthy decisions about food, while ensuring you stay accountable to those transformation-based goals.’

‘For my celebrity clients this is no different. A good workout regime will only get you so far,’ he explained.

‘Like the saying goes, results come from 80 per cent in the kitchen and 20 per cent in the gym.’

Ben said that he advises all his clients to stick to clean whole foods 80 per cent of the time and 20 per cent soul food so there is a nice balance without feeling like they have too many restrictions.

‘This allows for a healthy and sustainable relationship with food that keeps my clients on track without any blowouts,’ he said.

For carbs, he recommends reaching for breads and cereals, legumes, and non-starchy vegetables such as broccoli, cauliflower, brussel sprouts and asparagus which are also high in micronutrients.

When it comes to protein, he recommends his clients aim for lean meats, seafood, beans and eggs.

Fats are best sourced from nuts and seeds, avocado and omega rich fish. 

For those lacking inspiration, Ben suggests starting with a dietician-formulated meal delivery plan like MACROS.
