Fitness queen Kayla Itsines said she won’t be posting photos of her ‘muffin’ on Instagram

Australian fitness queen Kayla Itsines has revealed she won’t be oversharing pictures of her baby daughter on social media.

The expectant mother – who is 36 weeks pregnant – said she decided to keep her family life private – and focus strictly on her fitness brand on Instagram.

As she’s famously known for dishing out fitness tips, the 27-year-old personal trainer – who has more than 11 million followers – hinted she will never be a mummy blogger.

What does Kayla Itsines eat during her pregnancy?

The expectant mother said she has been asked by many women the kind of food she eats to stay healthy.

‘A few things I eat every week to keep me feeling energised are lentil soup, pasta with red sauce, homemade pizza, boiled greens with lemon, homemade spinach and cheese pastry plus salad with most meals,’ she said.

‘I also try to have grilled seafood, homegrown fruits and sushi.’

‘So this has been something that has been on my mind for weeks. I want to answer your questions about whether I’ll be uploading photos of muffin,’ she said.

‘This could change in future but right now I’d like to say that it’s not something I want to be doing on a regular basis.

‘I obviously have been very open so far with my pregnancy journey but I want to make it very clear, I’m not a blogger or pregnancy lifestyle expert.

‘I’m a personal trainer to millions of women all over the world and that will always be the focus of this Instagram.’

While Kayla – who’s due to become a first-time mother in May – admitted she’s happy to share some birth photographs of the arrival of her newborn girl, she made it clear it will end there.

‘My focus offline as always, is my family. Which is why I will not be posting frequently about my daughter,’ she said.

‘I will however be posting photos after she is born but this will not be a regular/daily occurrence. I want to keep that part of my life as private as possible.

‘My goal is to provide as many women as possible with the best health and fitness content.’

Hundreds of followers praised Kayla for her decision, with many expressing their support while others said they were sad they won’t get to see her baby much.

‘Totally respect this decision you are making for you and your family,’ Nicole said.

Elise commented: ‘Love it! Yes you do you, but we follow you for what you’ve done and how you’ve inspired us health and fitness wise not because you’re becoming a mum although that’s dang special as well.’

Savannah said: ‘Love this idea! Especially with how popular you are, people would try to pick apart every little thing. However, it will make it an even MORE enjoyment to see her beautiful face when we do. Love how much you’ve shared so far!

Leila wrote: ‘I appreciate this so much. Women around the world admire you and are grateful to you for all the fitness support, inspiration and information you give. However that is your job and however much a person may love their job and be eager to share it, that person, you, is entitled to a private life.’

And Nat said: ‘Nooo we want to see muffin as much as possible!! But I guess I understand.’

Kayla praised all the mummy bloggers on social media – and encouraged her fans to follow them for all their parenting tips.

‘There are so many amazing women on Instagram who share their journey from start to finish, who blog about their birth and share the details,’ she said.

‘As I mentioned, there are so many amazing mummy bloggers out there so please, if you are looking for tips and tricks about being a mum – follow those pages.

‘If you want a personal trainer in your pocket – you’ve got it. I have every intention of getting back into the swing of this as soon as I have clearance and am able.’

‘Each of us internalise so many thoughts and conversations, some of which are really hard. It [pregnancy] has been a mentally, physically and emotionally challenging time in my life,’ Kayla said.

The 27-year-old went on to stress that while she does feel incredibly lucky to have this opportunity to bring new life into the world and has watched on in amazement as her body has changed, there have also been difficulties.
