‘I grabbed her desperately, my daughter. I said “My love, my life” and I ran, and thank God there was an ambulance on the corner. I didn’t know why they were there, but I ran with her in my arms like a desperate mother, all bloody.’

‘When I reached the front of the yard and I saw that, I was shocked,’ one neighbor said. ‘It’s very heartbreaking. It’s very hard for a mother to lose their child. It’s very hard. I have two children, and I just can’t. It’s very hard.’

The violation comes with fines ranging from $6,000 to $25,000, DOB officials said.

The owner of the building’s 16-year-old daughter told the Daily News that the fence was safe and sturdy when it was installed by a contractor last December.

‘We have no idea how it happened, everyone we’ve talked to said it was sturdy,’ said Donna Netchandra, whose family owns the home. ‘We would lean on it and everything. It’s just something that happened, an accident.’

‘We feel horrible. We feel terrible,’ Netchandra said. ‘We saw the stepfather last night after it happened and we hugged and everything.’
