‘I prefer powder foundation than liquid, to avoid getting that ‘cracked’ effect during the flight, specially the long ones – my favorite is Shiseido Perfect Smoothing Compact Foundation,’ Mirelle told FEMAIL, adding that another advantage is that she doesn’t need to use a powder to finish it.

‘A concealer under the eyes makes all the difference, I use Catrice Liquid Camouflage which is waterproof so it lasts,’ she said.

Emirates cabin crew are renowned for the distinctive red lipstick they wear onboard – and Mirelle described it as the most ‘important’ item in her make up bag.

‘Sephora Cream Lip Stain number 01 is my favourite,’ she said. ‘I already did a 13-hour flight without replenishing it.’

Mirelle – who trained to become a flight attendant after wishing she could simply travel more – said she deems it her ‘dream job’.

‘There are some down-sides of course – it can be difficult to have a healthy lifestyle without a routine and you tend to eat and sleep at the wrong hours,’ she said.

‘With all the different time zones your body gets affected, but you get used to it and learn how to minimize the effects. For example, if you have consecutive days off, try to adjust your life back, go to the gym, eat properly, sleep well.’

Alongside moisturiser, which she keeps with her during the flight, Mirelle said lip balm is another thing she can’t leave without.

‘Lipstick is a must while in uniform, so I need to keep my lips hydrated when I’m not working,’ she said.

‘Nail polish remover wipes too – because there’s nothing worse for me than chipped polish, and the wipes are perfect to travel so you don’t need to bring the bottle and worry about leaking in your bag.

‘Talking about leaking, it’s a good idea to keep your liquid beauty products in a separate pouch and always try to buy the travel size, because even if the damage is done, it is going to be smaller,’ she advised.

Mirelle said she makes sure she removes her make up and applies moisturiser after every flight, even if she’s going to reapply make up to go out.

‘Sometimes, when I need an extra boost I sleep with diaper rash cream under my eyes and on my lips, sounds crazy but helps to regenerate the skin and hydrate the lips,’ she said.

And there’s a trick to getting your body clock back in balance too, according to the air hostess.

‘If I land at 11pm at a destination and in Dubai is still 6pm I will try to sleep, so I can enjoy the next day.

‘If I land after 11am at the destination, I’ll push myself to stay awake until it’s a reasonable bedtime on my new time zone.

'We don't mind if you come to the galley for a chat, we love to hear your stories and you're also helping your blood to circulate and in worst case scenario preventing a deep vein thrombosis,' she said

‘I drink a lot of water and that is the best advice I can give, bring your own bottle to make it easier for you and we can refill it throughout the flight,’ she said.

‘Some people don’t drink water because they don’t want to go to the toilet but that is wrong.
