Florence Pugh makes showstopping arrival to Don’t Worry Darling premiere in bejewelled playsuit

The long awaited premiere of their movie Don’t Worry Darling took place at the Venice Film Festival on Monday night.

And Florence Pugh, 26, certainly made her entrance in a leggy playsuit, as she came face to face with Olivia Wilde and Harry Styles amid rumours of a feud between the two actresses.

While she warmly greeted co-stars Chris Pine and Gemma Chan, she kept an awkward distance from Harry and Olivia while on the red carpet.

The movie’s director, 38, oozed glamour in a bright yellow gown, with a plunging neckline that showed off her ample cleavage, while Harry Styles looked typically stylish in a blue blazer.

Despite the film being plagued by drama over the recent weeks, the actress looked in high spirits, as she made her way to the red carpet.

Her eye-catching dress boasted diamond detailing and fringed sleeves for a touch of added sparkle, while a bejewelled belt cinched her in at her svelte waist.

Complementing the jewels on her outfit, Olivia added a diamond necklace and a bedazzled ring, while elevating her height in nude high heels.

Her long highlighted tresses were styled in soft waves and left to cascade down her shoulders, while she opted for a shimmering silver eyeshadow on her lids.

Olivia’s boyfriend and male star of the film Harry arrived soon after, looking dapper as ever in a quirky navy blue suit.

Underneath he wore a pale blue shirt, with a dramatic pointed collar peeking out, and teamed it with shiny white shoes.

He shielded his eyes from the glare of the sun behind a pair of oversized rectangular sunglasses, and his chestnut tresses were artfully tousled.

Harry added several chunky gold rings on his fingers and had several of his nails painted bright blue on both hands.

The actress wore a pair of shorts underneath the sheer gown, which boasted a long train and voluminous sleeves for extra dramatic effect.

She added height to her frame in a pair of black high heels with feathered straps, and kept her jewellery simple to let her outfit do the talking.

Her short blonde locks were slicked to the side and she wore a full face of glamourous makeup to show off her gorgeous features.

Gemma Chan, 39, oozed glamour in a fully-sequined gown – which was decorated with a nude flower design over the hem. 

Gemma’s silver gown also featured a cross-over high neck and a sleeveless design , complete with a figure-hugging cut, as small patches of gold graced the sequin-covered material.

Her brunette locks were pulled away into a neat high bun, as she left two sections down to frame her face.

And heading to the red carpet alongside co-star Chris Pine, who plays Frank in the new release, the pair arrived by boat to the sunny location. 

Chris opted for a pair of taupe trousers, teamed with a tuxedo shirt and chocolate brown blazer.

Matching a brown bow-tie and complementing shoes, the actor debuted a clean shaven look for the festival.

He and Gemma, who plays the character of Shelley in the film, posed for snaps together before heading to the event – with the beauty adjusting Chris’ tie.

Featuring a front slit down the centre, the beauty’s ensemble was decorated with a v-dip neckline and a grey inner panel.

With an added layer over the skirt to create a flowing train, Victoria lifted the material in the air to give photographers a 360 view of the stunning look.

She paired the number with open-toed silver heels, accessorising with a chunky silver bangle and diamond encrusted earrings.

Former Playmate Victoria had her bright blonde tresses styled in a voluminous curl as they fell to her shoulders.

While she added a glamorous palette of makeup for the occasion, blowing a kiss at onlookers. 

It comes after Florence skipped the photocall and press conference for the film on Monday, amid speculation there was friction between her and director Olivia on set.

The 26-year-old actress — who plays Harry’s wife in the film — will be landing in Venice a few hours after the press conference, coming straight from the Budapest set of Dune Part 2, via Deadline.

She is expected to hit the red carpet with her co-stars in the evening to attend the premiere screening, before hopping back on a plane to Budapest to be back at work on the Dune sequel on Tuesday morning.

The press conference was scheduled to take place at 12:15 p.m. on Monday, though Pugh’s flight in from Budapest didn’t get in until 1:30 or 2 p.m.

The report claims this was always the plan for Pugh, who has been planning it like this for the past few weeks, before all the rumors of difficulties on the set surfaced.

Pugh has been quite sparse, when it comes to promoting the film, slated for release in theaters September 23, with the actress only doing a cover story for Harper’s Bazaar.

She isn’t expected to do any more press for the movie, since she is expected to be still filming on Dune Part 2 through October.

Coincidentally, her Dune Part 2 costar Timothee Chalamet is being given ample time to do both the press conference and the red carpet at Venice for his new film Bones For All, and it’s worth noting that both Dune Part 2 and Don’t Worry Darling are both Warner Bros. films.

A report from Page Six in late July claimed that Pugh was upset that Wilde was hooking up with Styles during the production of Don’t Worry Darling — while still married to Jason Sudeikis — before they split in November.

Wilde has also been commenting about the film, revealing she was ‘forced’ to cut several sex scenes, adding, ‘We still live in a really puritanical society.’

There have been conflicting reports as to the timeline of Olivia’s split from her ex husband Jason, with whom she shares two children, and when she started her new relationship with Harry.

Rumours of Harry and Olivia’s romance were confirmed when they were seen holding hands at his agent’s wedding in Montecito, California, on January 3 2021, raising eyebrows over just how quickly she had moved on.

Recently Olivia found herself in a public war of words with Shia LaBeouf, who was initially tapped to play the male lead in Don’t Worry Darling.

Last month Wilde gave an interview to Variety where she said LaBeouf’s process was ‘not conducive to the ethos that I demand in my productions’ after the role was ultimately recast with her now-boyfriend.

In response, LaBeouf supplied alleged evidence to refute Wilde’s claims, including an email he sent to the director and a video that she allegedly sent to him, proving he walked away from the film rather than being fired.

LaBeouf claims he ‘quit the film due to lack of rehearsal time’ on August 17th in 2020, and forwarded Variety two emails that he claims he recently sent to Wilde.

Some studio sources have claimed to the publication that LaBeouf had been fired, while another said his departure was down to a ‘collective recognition that LaBeouf’s style of acting wasn’t a good fit for Wilde’s approach as a director.’ 

However LaBeouf has sent Variety purported screenshots of his conversations with Wilde, which claim they met in person to discuss his exit from the project. 

Wilde allegedly texted the actor: ‘Thanks for letting me in on your thought process. I know that isn’t fun. Doesn’t feel good to say no to someone, and I respect your honesty.

LaBeouf then claims to the trade outlet that he ‘officially’ quit the film the following day after their conversation in August 2020.

As well as texts, LaBeouf provided Variety with a video that Wilde allegedly sent him on August 19th 2020, two days after he is said to have quit. 

In the video Wilde is heard saying she is ‘not ready to give up on this yet,’ as she appears to beg the actor to reconsider. Wilde is then said to allude to tension between LaBeouf and lead star Florence Pugh, who plays Alice, the wife of Jack.

Wilde goes on: ‘If she really commits, if she really puts her mind and heart into it at this point and if you guys can make peace – and I respect your point of view, I respect hers – but if you guys can do it, what do you think? Is there hope? Will you let me know?’
