Florida mother, 40, and 22-year-old daughter are arrested for using a DRONE to deliver tobacco and cell phones to prisoners in a 2am mission

Florida deputies detained two women who allegedly used a drone to illegally deliver cell phones and tobacco to an inmate at a state facility on Sunday. 

Concetta Didiano, 22, and her 40-year-old mother, Cassandra Kerr, were hit with a slew of charges including Introduction of Contraband into a Correctional Facility. 

At around 2am, the Martin County Sheriff’s Office received a call stating that a drone was hovering over the Martin Correctional Institution. It was also said that the drone was possibly delivering a package on the rood of the housing facility, WPTV reports. 

Kerr was also hit with additional charges for operating a drone inside a correctional institute

At the same time as the call, corrections officers reported seeing a black pickup truck that was rolling in front of the center on Allapattah Road.  

Deputies were able to catch up to the vehicle where they found Didiano driving her mother, according to the Tampa Bay Times. 

Kerr had initially claimed that the pair drove 200 miles from their Tampa home so that she could teach her daughter how to drive a truck.

Kerr shared that she had bought the drone off eBay and was using it to deliver phones and tobacco

But when officers found another vehicle had crashed into a drone carrying supplies, Kerr switched up her story. 

‘I did it,’ she stated. ‘The remote and iPad are in the backseat.’

Kerr was also hit with additional charges for operating a drone inside a correctional institute. 

According to former convicts, $20 cell phones can go for up to $400 while behind bars.
