Connor Michael Lewis, 16, is charged with murder over the shooting death of Artavious Quarterman

A Florida teenager, 16, shot an 18-year-old in the head while mocking him as ‘so scary’ after the alleged killer had a fight with his girlfriend.

Connor Michael Lewis, 16, of Sanford, shot Artavious Quarterman, 18, through the window of his front door Wednesday all the while on the phone to 911 complaining about several people banging on his door and window.

Sanford Police said the dispatcher could hear Lewis saying ‘Oh, you’re so scary. You’re so scary’ before gunfire rung out.

Lewis was charged with murder Friday after Quarterman died of his injuries.

The suspected murderer called police just after 8 p.m. Wednesday to report multiple women banging on the front door of his home, police said in a press release.

Lewis told the dispatcher he and his girlfriend had got into a verbal argument and he told her to get out of the house.

His girlfriend’s family then turned up at the property and were banging on the door and window, Lewis told authorities.

Police said the alleged killer could be heard taunting the people outside saying they were ‘so scary’ as they shouted his name through the door.

Lewis then fired one bullet through the window of his door striking Quarterman, who police said had gone with the mom of Lewis’s girlfriend to collect her belongings from the home.

Quarterman was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries, before he died Thursday.

Sanford Police Chief Cecil Smith branded the shooting ‘senseless’.

‘Sanford police officers were minutes away from the home, and I believe would have been able to separate and de-escalate the situation in a matter of moments,’ he said in a statement.

Lewis was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder on Wednesday, before the charge was upgraded Friday when Quarterman died.

He is now charged with second-degree homicide and shooting into a dwelling.
