Surfing legend Mick Fanning certainly enjoyed Penrith’s dramatic NRL grand final victory over Brisbane, with fans claiming the Aussie hero had a few too many beers in Sydney.
Fanning, a Panthers tragic, was in attendance at Accor Stadium for his team’s incredible second half comeback against the Broncos, in which they overturned a 16-point deficit thanks to Nathan Cleary’s heroics.
The 42-year-old celebrated on the pitch with the players after the final whistle and appeared slightly worse for wear when speaking to Channel 9’s Alanna Ferguson.
‘This is the best thing ever,’ he said. ‘Oh my god, it is so amazing, woo, look at it.’
When asked for his thoughts on Cleary, Fanning said: ‘Are you kidding me? He’s the greatest athlete on earth. Seriously. Swear to God. Greatest athlete on earth. He went absolutely looney in the last 10 minutes.
