Former AFL star Chris Judd has caused uproar at The Footy Show’s charity fundraiser for My Room by making an inappropriate joke about cancer.
In an unfortunate choice of words, Judd said that he wouldn’t die of cancer because he uses natural deodorant.
Footy Show panellist Shane Crawford told Judd that he smelled nice, to which Judd responded: ‘I’m using a natural deodorant. It doesn’t actually work, but I’m not going to die of cancer, so…’

My Room is a children’s cancer charity and many viewers took to social media to express their outrage at Judd’s comments.
‘Oh my god! Disgusting #chrisjudd I cannot believe what you just said!!! #9AFLFootyShow’ one person wrote on Twitter.
‘Funny how Chris Judd thinks he’s free from cancer because he doesn’t wear deodorant,’ another wrote.

In a post on the AFL Footy Show’s Facebook wall, one person called the comment ‘absolutely disgusting’ and said that Judd should ‘apologise tonight before the show finishes’.
Judd did later apologise on air for his poor choice of words.

Judd’s apology eased concern around his slip-up, with many saying that the money raised for the My Room charity was more important.
‘Can I just say well done to the AFL Footy Show for an absolutely amazing effort in raising so much money for a great charity,’ one user posted on the AFL Footy Show’s Facebook wall.
‘To those people who want to criticise Chris Judd for a slip of the tongue, grow up and look at the big picture, he is there putting in his time and effort for this so instead of knit picking why not applaud the efforts.’
The show raised more than $1.5 million for the children’s cancer charity.
