Footy superstar Nathan Cleary responds to rumours he’s dating Matildas star Mary Fowler after being spotted on intimate riverside walk
Footy superstar Nathan Cleary has responded to rumours he’s dating Matildas World Cup hero Mary Fowler.
‘Intern Pete’ Deppeler from KIIS’ The Kyle and Jackie O show questioned the Penrith Panthers player on his rumoured relationship after visiting the team’s home stadium in Sydney on Tuesday.
‘Obviously we need to address the elephant in the room, are you dating Mary or not?’ Pete asked.
‘No, no, no, we’re not getting into that,’ Nathan responded.
Pete then questioned Nathan’s teammate Jarome Luai about whether the romance rumours are true.

‘If there was one player to date a Matilda’s player who would it be? Nathan Cleary?’ he asked.
‘I spoke to him about it,’ Pete added as Jarome questioned: ‘Really. What did he say?’
‘He was being a big cagey but he told us yes. Do you guys talk about it much in the change rooms?’ Pete continued.
‘We are into them definitely. He was a bit shy about it at first as well, so we are trying to get some information out of him,’ Jarome explained.
Nathan, 25, and Mary, 20, sparked romance rumours last month after they were pictured together strolling along the banks of the Nepean River.
According to News Corp, the photo was taken two weeks before the pair were seen ‘enjoying an ice cream’ together after a promotional event with Adidas.

The riverside encounter – which took place on August 8, the day after Australia defeated Denmark at the World Cup – is understood to have been the duo’s second outing together in just over two weeks.
‘We were going for a walk along the Nepean River when we saw them,’ a Penrith resident who saw the couple said.
‘They were taking photos and talking with other locals, and walking up and down the Nepean River together for quite some time.’
Nathan and Mary follow each other on Instagram, although the footballer is based in the UK where she plays for Women’s Super League side Manchester City.
Mary is regarded as Australia’s next big football talent and plays for Manchester City
