Forgetful mum accidentally freezes her son’s £90 jumper SOLID after leaving it on the washing line ‘to air’ for six hours as temperatures dropped to -8C

  • Dianne Melville, 49, from Scotland, had only meant to ‘air’ her son’s jumper
  • After leaving the garment outside for six hours  the jumper was frozen solid
  • Husband John Melville displays the jumper and shows the icicles now stuck to it

This is the entertaining moment a mother tells her son that she has accidentally frozen his expensive jumper after leaving it out on the washing line in freezing conditions.

Dianne Melville, 49, from Airdrie, North Lanarkshire, Scotland, had meant to leave her 18-year-old son David’s garment outside for an hour to let it ‘air’ but realised it was still outside six hours later.

Footage shows the jumper, worth £90, frozen completely solid with the arms in a ‘hands up’ posture and icicles hanging from the neck and cuffs.

Temperatures that day had plummeted to as low as -8C in the area.

During the clip, Mrs Melville giggles as her husband John Melville, 63, walks into the room with the now solid jumper.

As her husband displays the frozen garment to the camera, Mrs Melville admits: ‘David this is your Abercrombie and Fitch pure wool jumper that I hung out.’

John then moves his black glove behind one of the icicles, now stuck to the frozen jumper, so it can be clearly seen.

Mrs Melville continues laughing at the frozen garment before adding: ‘Supposed to be for an hour, to get a bit of air about it. Sorry pal.’

The mother shared the clip on Facebook on January 31, the day of the disaster, with the caption: ‘This really has not been my day lol.’

In her post she explained: ‘I washed it on the wool wash so the water was pouring out of it. Meant to hang it out for an hour, that was six hours ago.’

The clip has already received more than 29,000 views and an array of comments.

Gillian Ross wrote: ‘Need to stick this on public so I can share it I’m buckled here.’

Another viewer, Lauren McComb, commented: ‘I’m crying laughing at this.’
