Stuttgart defender Konstantinos Mavropanos was not selected by Stuttgart for their Bundesliga game against Bochum, with reports suggesting the Greek international is on the verge of joining West Ham.
Mavropanos has been a key transfer target for David Moyes’ side after their move for Manchester United’s Harry Maguire collapsed.
The former Arsenal man helped Stuttgart stay in the German top flight last season, but Fabrizio Romano has reported that a return to the Premier League is imminent.
He posted on Twitter: ‘Kostantinos Mavropanos, not called up for Stuttgart game as he’s on the verge of joining West Ham.
‘Deal at final stages after talks advancing last two days. He’s priority target after Maguire deal collapsed.’

The Athletic are also reporting that a deal for Mavropanos is close, with the player set to travel to London for a medical in the next 24 hours.
The 19-cap Greek international was previously the subject of transfer interest from Eintracht Frankfurt, Wolves and Nottingham Forest, as revealed by Mail Sport.
However, it is West Ham who look to have won the race for his signtature.
A deal was agreed with United for Maguire, but the England centre-back stalled over the move as he waited for a £7million pay off to leave Old Trafford.
David Moyes is keen to add to his squad before the transfer window closes
Moyes is also keen to add Ajax winger Mohammed Kudus to his squad, but West Ham are yet to agree a fee for his services with the Eredivisie side.
Much of West Ham’s transfer business for the remainder of the window could depend on the future of Lucas Paqueta.
The Brazilian international was heavily linked with a move to Manchester City before Mail Sport reported that he is the subject of an FA investigation for potentially breaching betting rules.
West Ham are back in action on Sunday when they take on Chelsea at the London Stadium.
