A former France international is reportedly set to go on trial for sexual assault next month.
Wissam Ben Yedder, who has 19 caps for Les Bleus, has been accused of sexually assaulting a young woman last weekend in southeastern France, as per L’Equipe.
The former Sevilla and Monaco striker was reportedly arrested in a ‘state of intoxication’ at around 3am on Saturday morning while driving.
He is banned from leaving the Alpes-Maritimes region, is under curfew from 8pm to 6am, cannot go to any bars or clubs, and must not approach his alleged victim. He also has to report to a police station twice per week until his trial.
According to French outlet L’Equipe, the 34-year-old will go on trial on October 15.
He was brought to court on Sunday afternoon, receiving a summons for ‘sexual assault while clearly intoxicated, refusal to comply and driving under the influence of alcohol’.

His accuser was reportedly born in 2001.
The striker last played international football in June 2022.
While he has reportedly been targeted by English heavyweights such as Manchester United, Liverpool, and Arsenal over the years, he has played his entire career in France and Spain.
There was a time in 2020 when he was valued at £40m with European giants all wanting to sign him, including Real Madrid and the aforementioned English clubs.
His most prolific season was in 2018-19 when he scored 30 goals in all competitions for Sevilla, and the next year he was Ligue 1’s top scorer alongside Kylian Mbappe.
Liverpool fans may remember him scoring three times against the Reds in the 2017-18 Champions League group stages before Jurgen Klopp’s side reached the final, where they lost 3-1 to Real Madrid.
Across stints with Toulouse, Sevilla, and Monaco, the veteran forward has scored 259 goals in 513 games.
