Former MAFS star Erin Bateman shaves head for charity

Former Married At First Sight star Erin Bateman has proven to be a woman of her word – shaving her head for charity.

The 28-year-old sacrificed her long, brunette tresses for World’s Greatest Shave – a charity which raises money for cancer research.

She documented the entire event on her Instagram Story, making sure to capture every step of the somewhat-awkward head-shaving process.

‘F***, this is intense!’: Former Married At First Sight star Erin Bateman shaves her head for cancer charity after admitting she was ‘s***ing herself’ about getting rid of her long brunette locks

In the video, Erin’s sister Laura Bateman was handed the dubious task of first cutting then taking a pair of clippers to her sister’s head.

To begin the process, Erin put her hair in a long plaited ponytail which was then cut-off by Laura.

Erin’s younger sister then worked her magic with a pair of clippers, first shaving off the back of Erin’s hair before gradually making her way around to the front.

During the process Erin continued chatting to her followers, telling them she would be donating her hair to a charity that makes wigs for cancer sufferers.

As her hair became shorter, Erin announced to her followers: ‘f***, this is intense’, before encouraging her sister to ‘keep hacking away’.

Apart from supporting the Leukemia Foundation, Erin announced she was also shaving her head for a very personal reason.

‘I want to bring awareness to Trichotillomania, an impulse control disorder I’ve struggled with for over 10 years,’ she announced on Instagram earlier this month.

Finally, after nearly 40 minutes, Laura shaved off the final lock of Erin’s hair.

‘We shouldn’t be made to feel afraid of our imperfections,’ she began.

‘You mightn’t know this but I suffer from a form of hair loss. Finally there’s a real product that doesn’t further alienate me and even looks beautiful on my bathroom shelves.

She added: ‘Whatever form of hair loss you suffer from you can now register for the next limited batch of Samson & Sons… .’
