How to recreate McDonald’s onions AT HOME
What you’ll need:
Minced onions, hot water, a glass jar, and a paper towel
- Put minced onions in a jar filled with hot water and let sit for 15 minutes
- Use the paper towel to drain out the onions
‘Once you have that, you need some hot water. Hold on, I’m getting mine hot. Once you have hot water, just go ahead and pour said minced onions into said hot water. That’s what we’re gonna do. All right, just whatever desired amount is.
‘You’re just gonna let that sit for 15 minutes… All right, it’s been 15 minutes now. We’re gonna drain that s***.’
Kim uses a paper towel to drain the jar.
‘We’re just gonna get as much of the water out as we can. This is exactly how it goes at McDonald’s, to be honest,’ she explained.
‘Now you have your whole little a** jar of deliciousness, enjoy.’
Below her video, onion lovers flooded her comments section, saying they are ‘really appreciative’ and very ‘thankful’ for the tasty hack.
Kim’s clip has garnered more than one million views and almost 60,000 likes.
Another ex-fast food worker confirmed the process in the comments section, saying: ‘And she is not lyin! Signed a former McDonald’s employee.’
A second employee added: ‘I worked at McDonald’s too, and had to rehydrate the onions as well, and I still love these onions, and I don’t know why.’
