Set to judge Miss World next month, Carina was crowned Miss England in 2014 and receiving fourth place in Miss World later that year.

The graduate spent two years working as a junior doctor in Oxford, gaining experience in all departments of the hospital, including A&E, before returning to Cambridge University last September.

Carina has spent the past year studying for her Master’s degree at her former college, Murray Edwards, while also working during the holidays as a public health doctor for the NHS in East Anglia.

The 30-year-old whose mother was a secretary and father was a physicist before they retired, reflected on her time studying at the prestigious university.

She said: ‘It’s been great being back at Cambridge and at my college. It’s an all-girls college, so they really push women in the workplace too, which is great.

‘My Master’s has been really interesting and focused on bringing health technologies to the NHS to make it easier for doctors and nurses on the front line.’

The former beauty pageant contestant who will be presented with her degree at the Senate House on Saturday, has also co-founded a start-up company with Cambridge students at the Judge Business School.

The business is in the process of developing a drink powder made from misshapen fruit and vegetables, which are not wanted by supermarkets.

The powder is still in its early testing stages but Carina is hoping they will eventually be able to sell it to encourage people to live healthier lives.

The health expert has also been asked to judge the Beauty with a Purpose charity round at Miss World in London on December 14 at the ExCel London.

Beauty With a Purpose, is a global initiative at the heart of Miss World that aims to inspire and empower women across the world to use their talents to raise awareness and funds for humanitarian causes.

The international beauty pageant, founded in England is now in its 69th year. The reigning Miss World is Vanessa Ponce de León, 26, from Mexico, who is presently on the Board of Directors of a Rehab centre while also volunteering for a migrant shelter.
