Former New Jersey governor Christine Whitman tweets ‘Hitler has nothing on Trump’

Former New Jersey governor Christine Whitman tweets ‘Hitler has nothing on Trump’ in response to horrific fake video of the president massacring the ‘fake news’ media

  • Christine Whitman said ‘Hitler has nothing on Trump’ in response to fake video
  • Clip had shown a depiction of the US president attacking members of the media
  • She appeared to delete tweet and instead describe clip as the ‘stuff of dictators’

Former New Jersey governor Christine Whitman tweeted ‘Hitler has nothing on Trump’ in response to a violent fake video of the president slaughtering members of the media.

The comment, posted to Twitter on Monday, appeared to be deleted by Whitman and replaced by a tweet which described the video as ‘the stuff of dictators’.

In the fake video, which was played at a conference at the Trump National Doral in Miami last week, a depiction of Trump is seen attacking members of the media, the New York Times reported.

Among the victims – aside from ‘fake news’ – are prominent Democrats like House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, former President Barack Obama, Senator Bernie Sanders, Bill and Hillary Clinton, and others.

The clip, which is being circulated online by Trump supporters, is an edited version of the church massacre scene from the 2014 film Kingsman: The Secret Service.

Whitman, who served as the 50th Governor of New Jersey from 1994 to 2001, posted a link to the New York Times article to her Twitter account on Monday.

Alongside the link, she wrote: ‘#Hitler has nothing on #Trump. #TrumpVideo’.

The former Republican governor then appeared to delete the controversial tweet and replace it with another comment a day later.

The updated tweet said: ‘This video, played @ the president’s resort, is the stuff of dictators. The US is a land of discourse with those who disagree, not violent destruction of opponents in a church.

‘#Trump & his defenders should be ashamed. What is America becoming?’

The three-day conference was attended by former White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders; the president’s eldest son, Donald Trump Jr; and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.

Sanders and a representative for Trump Jr claimed on Sunday that they had not seen the clip at the event, which was hosted by American Priority.

A spokesperson for Trump’s re-election campaign, Tim Murtaugh, said he knew nothing about the video.

‘That video was not produced by the campaign, and we do not condone violence,’ he said.

Whitman’s statement on Monday was not the first time the former New Jersey governor had compared Trump to the German dictator.

In 2015, after Trump made a call to ban Muslims entering the United States, she likened his comments to those made by Hitler ahead of World War II, the Independent reported.

‘If you read your history in the lead-up to the Second World War this is the kind of rhetoric that allowed Hitler to move forward,’ she said.
