Since news of her death broke on Monday, the post has been flooded with comments from fans expressing their shock and sadness.

Fans also noticed two other alarming posts Mattingly had shared in February, offering a glimpse into her addiction struggle.

On February 6, the model shared a screengrab from her Notes app where she had written: ‘I Ashley Mattingly is not going down as you’re drunk playboy playmate! Remember this!’

She shared a similar photo the day before with the words: ‘DEATH ISN’T FUNNY!’

The photos are embedded among much happier snaps of her everyday life, chronicling everything from vacations to grocery store runs to her new golden retriever puppy, Miss Jean.

Mattingly also regularly posted about how she owned guns, including one photo on March 22 which showed a pistol strapped to her thigh.

Mattingly moved to Texas from California about two years ago to be closer to family while she fought her ‘demons’, twin brother Billy and her sister Christy said in a statement to People on Monday.

‘It’s maybe no secret that Ashley struggled with alcohol and substance abuse, but she wanted to and was working toward getting better,’ the siblings wrote.

They confirmed that notes were found next to the model’s body, saying they were ‘anxious’ to read them as soon as police investigating her death allow them to do so.

TMZ, which was first to report Mattingly’s suicide, quoted family as saying that she felt lonely amid Texas’ shelter-in-place order aimed at stemming the spread of coronavirus.

Her siblings said she adopted Miss Jean to help cope with the loneliness and ‘overcome her demons’, and said they have taken over the care of the puppy.

‘We will forever cherish her memories and know that her joy is eternally sealed. We look forward to seeing her again.

‘Our hope is that Ashley’s story can continue to shed a light on suicide awareness and prevention. We love you Ashley.’

Authorities have released few details about the circumstances surrounding Mattingly’s death, the cause of which is unknown.

A spokesperson for the Travis County Medical Examiner’s Office on Monday said that results of any autopsy or toxicology tests could take anywhere from 30 to 90 days.

In 2012, she was the victim of domestic violence when her ex-boyfriend, former Prison Break star Lane Garrison, was caught on surveillance video slapping her in the face at her Beverly Hills apartment.

Garrison argued after his arrest that Mattingly had grabbed his cell phone and his was reaching to retrieve it.

After spending two months in jail, Garrison pleaded no contest to a charge of domestic battery and was sentenced to probation, counseling and a fine.

As of Tuesday, the former actor has not commented on his ex-girlfriend’s passing.
