Fotis Dulos is spotted removing items from a memorial to his wife

Fotis Dulos ‘was spotted removing items from a memorial to his wife that was left outside his home’, prosecutors say, as he attends court charged with her murder

  • Prosecutors say Dulos got out of his car on January 17 to stop at the memorial and removing unspecified items from the memorial
  • He is currently out on bail on murder charges, accused of killing his wife Jennifer last May
  • The pair were in a bitter custody battle and divorce and she had previously claimed she was afraid for her life
  • He denies the charges and says he still does not know what happened to her
  • The judge decided on Thursday that he will remain on house arrest under strict conditions

Fotis Dulos was spotted by removing items from a memorial left to his wife Jennifer, who he is accused of murdering, at the end of his street, according to prosecutors.

The 52-year-old is currently awaiting trial in Stamford, Connecticut.

Prosecutors say he murdered Jennifer in her home in New Canaan last May while the pair were in the middle of  a bitter custody battle and divorce, and that he disposed of her body afterwards with the help of his then-girlfriend Michelle Troconis.

He denies the charges and says he has no idea what happened to Jennifer, whose body has never been found.

After posting bail last week, Fotis was allegedly seen getting out of his car at the end of the street where he is living and removing items that had been left in a make-shift memorial site to his presumed-dead wife.

Fotis Dulos is shown on Thursday morning at Stamford Superior Court for a bond hearing

Prosecutors made the claim in a court document where they asked for tighter bail conditions for him, saying he should not have gotten out of his car at all.

The judge however decided on Thursday that he would remain on house arrest.

They said the incident was on May 17.

Fotis’ attorney, Norm Pattis, said the complaint was unwarranted ‘nonsense’.

‘He got out of his car on the way home? Seriously?

‘We need to get this trial on as quickly as possible to put an end to this nonsense,’ he said.

Prosecutors say they have extensive DNA evidence linking Fotis to the crime that includes pools of her blood that were found inside the garage of her rental home where the alleged took place, and traces of her blood in vehicles used on the day she vanished.

Fotis and his wife had been arguing in court over the custody of their five children.

In court filings, Jennifer said she was afraid of him and that she feared he would harm her.

She had also written blog posts, years before the pair separated, where she talked about her fear that she would end up ‘in a body bag’.

Fotis was being sued by Jennifer’s mother, Gloria, for $2.5million in unpaid loans which she claims he owed her family.

He is fighting that civil lawsuit at the same time as the criminal trial, and says he owes them nothing.

Jennifer’s late father gave him the money, he said, as an investment and he claims if anything, the Farbers owe him money – but he is not demanding they pay him.

Prosecutors also say that Fotis instructed his girlfriend, Troconis, to lie and say she had an alibi for him on the day Jennifer vanished.

They believe his lawyer, Kent Mawhinney, may also have been involved and that he was plotting his own potential attack against his own wife.

Mawhinney denies those charges.
