Four youths ‘of African appearance’ are arrested by bikie-busting cops and charged with a series of violent robberies across Sydney

  • Four boys, two aged 16 and two aged 17, were arrested in western Sydney
  • They are accused of taking part in a series of recent robberies across the city 
  • Officers executed three search warrants at Oxley Park and Plumpton Wednesday
  • They were each charged with multiple counts of larceny, among other offences 

Four teenagers have been arrested and charged in relation to a string of recent robberies across Sydney.

Two boys, aged 16, and two aged 17, were taken into custody on Wednesday following police raids in the city’s western suburbs.

Strike Force Arpen has been investigating a spate of thefts by youths of ‘African appearance’ at electronic stores in recent months.

Arpen along with Strike Force Raptor, known for busting bikie gangs, executed three search warrants at Oxley Park and Plumpton where they seized a Honda Accord, knives, cash, a stolen credit card, a stun gun, and other alleged stolen items. 

A 16-year-old from Oxley Park appeared in children’s court where he was charged with six counts of larceny and participate criminal group contribute criminal activity. 

A 17-year-old from the same area was charged with seven counts of larceny, participate criminal group contribute criminal activity, and possessing a prohibited weapon.

The two teens from Plumpton were charged with ten counts of larceny each, two counts of affray, recklessly deal with proceeds of crime, and participate criminal group contribute criminal activity.

One was charged with seven counts of owner not disclose identity of driver/passenger.  

All four teens were refused bail to appear at children’s court on Thursday.

The arrests come a month after NSW Police identified ‘African gangs’ as responsible for a series of robberies at least 20 stores including JB Hi-Fi and Bing Lee locations.

‘We are talking about an organised gang of African thieves,’ Assistant Commissioner Jones last month. 

In June, four teenagers were arrested for allegedly stealing $15,000 worth of electronics at a store in Taren Point in the city’s south.
