Four-year-old and teen fight for life after WA car crash

A four-year-old boy and 19-year-old woman are fighting for life in hospital after a crash killed three other people in Western Australia’s mid west. 

Two cars collided head-on along the Brand Highway in Bonniefield, about 360km north of Perth, just after midday on Wednesday.

A 72-year-old man driving one vehicle and a 49-year-old woman driving the other died at the scene, while the man’s 41-year-old female passenger died later at Geraldton Regional Hospital.

The boy was travelling with the man, while the 19-year-old woman was travelling with the 49-year-old woman – both were flown to hospital by the Royal Flying doctor service.

Police are investigating whether a tyre blowout on the man’s car caused it to veer into the path of the other vehicle.
