A four-year-old boy has died in hospital following a collision in Melbourne’s west that claimed the life of a 10-year-old girl.
The girl died at the scene of the triple-car crash at Truganina, 22km west of Melbourne’s centre, after a Ford Territory, a Honda SUV and a Ford Focus collided about midnight on Sunday.
A man and woman with two children were travelling in the Ford Focus, with police saying the boy died on Monday evening.

The female driver remains in a critical condition while the male passenger was released from hospital.
The Ford Territory’s 41-year-old male driver from Rockbank, and sole occupant, was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries, while the five occupants in the Honda SUV were not injured.
Emergency services were called to the scene, with ambulances rushing the injured to hospital.
Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision.

Tributes have poured in on Facebook for the girl who lost her life.
‘Such an unnecessary and avoidable tragedy. Thoughts with the family of the young girl that lost her life,’ one commenter said.
‘Terribly sad. Another driver taking a risk and ruining lives. My thoughts and prayers are with the girl’s family,’ another said.
